Xiaomi has been hailing the smart TV market since quite some time now. And more recently, it took a step ahead by introducing the Mi Box 4K, which aims to make non-smart TVs, well, smart. But after spending a considerable time in the ‘affordable’ TV segment, the firm is thinking to make a debut in the ‘premium’ range. This came as a confirmation from Xiaomi India’s Mi TV category head, Eshwar Nilakantan in an emailed response to HT Tech.
When asked if Xiaomi India will ever move up the ladder and launch a ‘premium’ TV? Nilakantan said that the firm is taking feedback from its customers and is surely working on launching TVs in that segment. He, however, did not comment on the specifics or the launch time frame.

“We are consistently taking feedback from our Mi Fans and are constantly monitoring their requirements. If at some point we see a growing demand for additional features and customizations, we will definitely work towards bringing them in the market for our consumers and fans. Without commenting on the specifics, we are working towards introducing a smart TV in the premium segment and providing the best Smart TV experience to all,” said Nilakantan to HT Tech.
It is worth adding that Nilakantan is confirming this move for the second time. He has already mentioned that the firm is working on a premium TV to Gadgets 360 before.

It is also not for sure if the ‘premium’ TVs will be launched as a new series or an expansion to the existing one. As per the listing on the company’s India website, the most high-end offering from the firm is the 65-inch Mi TV 4X, which is priced at ₹54,999. However, the China website lists a couple of 75-inch models as well priced at CNY 9999 (roughly ₹1 lakh) and CNY 7999 (roughly ₹85,000), which one may consider as ‘premium’. But of course, all this is a mere guess and we might see a completely new model launching in India, as and when Xiaomi plans to make it happen.
Meanwhile, the firm also introduced its 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max at CNY 19,999 ( ₹2.1 lakh).
