JioBook laptop is now officially available in India to buy! Launched quietly for enterprises via the Indian Government marketplace, the JioBook is now available for customers at a price of Rs. 15,799. This makes it the cheapest laptop you can buy in India right now. The JioBook is only available in a single colour variant and you can already book it online via Reliance Digital online store.

The JioBook joins the list of affordable Jio branded device along with the JioPhone Next and JioPhone. The idea behind the laptop is to offer an affordable laptop for students and businesses who cannot afford to spend on a high end Windows laptop. The laptop appears to come in the same blue colour as the JioPhone Next.

JioBook specifications at a glance

The JioBook laptop is a compact notebook and as such features an 11.6-inch HD resolution LCD. JioBook is relying on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset that is paired with up to 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. The storage can also be expanded by up to 128GB via a microSD card. The entire system relies on a 5,000mAh battery and Jio claims it can offer up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. There's no active cooling mechanism, allowing for a fanless design.

Jio says the laptop runs on JioOS, which is optimised for good performance on low-end hardware. Rumours suggest the JioOS is based on Microsoft Windows and will offer access to MS Office apps as well Jio apps.

As for connectivity, the Jio Book features Wi-Fo and Bluetooth 5,0 for wireless connections. It will also feature a 4G LTE slot for mobile connectivity. The laptop also features two 1W stereo speakers for audio. It has a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones as well. There is also a sole 2MP web camera for video calling.

Those interested in activating the SIM card connection will need to visit the nearest Jio Store with ICCID (SIM number), which will in turn complete their KYC and choose their preferred data plans. Once that is done, the inbuilt SIM card will be activated for use.
