Apple could be manufacturing 25 percent of iPhones in India by 2025. (Amritanshu / HT Tech)

Apple will make almost 25 percent of its iPhones in India by 2025! That's big news for the Indian manufacturing sector, and iPhone fans in India, considering Apple makes much less of its global stocks in India. In fact, with the rumoured iPhone 14 production expected to begin in the next few months, India's contribution to the global iPhone production will be just 5 percent. And Apple currently makes the older iPhone models only in India, which include the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE.

Based on a report from JP Morgan, it is said that Apple will increase its production of the iPhone in India and by 2025, Apple could be manufacturing almost 25 percent of the global iPhone stocks. That means we could be seeing a lot of the iPhone models manufactured in India, and that could also include the Pro models getting manufactured here.

More Apple iPhones to be made in India

Apple will be reducing its reliance on China for manufacturing and it could also affect the overall availability as well as the price. Apple currently has the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro max in its lineup, and its only China that gets to make all of them.

The report also says that the production of other Apple products, including Mac, iPad, Apple Watch and AirPods. It is said to increase to 25 percent outside of China by 2025 as well. Taiwanese vendors like Hon Hai and Pegatron could be crucial for the relocation of production to India.

At the moment, it is Wistron that handles the production of models such as the iPhone SE and iPhone 12, while Foxconn is manufacturing the iPhone 13 at the moment, and could be beginning the iPhone 14 production in India soon.

On the other hand, there were talks of the Tata Group in talks with Wistron to manufacture iPhones in India and expand India's participation in the manufacturing process. Local manufacturing could help Apple reduce the prices of the iPhones in India, which has seen increased demand in the last few years.
