Corning partners with Lava to launch Z-series smartphones

Lava Z1 will be available for purchase from January 26, while the Lava Z2, Z4 and Z6 will be available for purchase from January 11.

Corning today announced a partnership with Indian smartphone-maker Lava to launch new Z-series smartphones in India. The newly introduced Z-series, which includes Z1, Z2, Z4 and Z6 smartphones are powered by MediaTek's Helio G35 octa-core processor and they come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Corning Incorporated said that Lava will be the first mobile device manufacturer in India to sell a military-grade smartphone featuring Gorilla Glass 3, which the company says provides up to 4X improvement in scratch resistance when compared to competitive aluminosilicate glasses from other manufacturers.

Z-series specs

First in the Z-series lineup is the Lava Z1. It comes with MIL-STD 810 certification. It is powered by Helio G35 SoC that is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space.

Coming to the Lava Z2, it is powered by Helio G35 SoC that is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. It has a 13MP + 2MP Dual Camera along with an 8MP selfie camera.

The Lava Z4, on the other hand, is powered by Helio G35 SoC that is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space. It comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of 13MP + 5MP + 2MP camera. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera.

Lastly, the Lava Z6 comes with the Helio G35 SoC that is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space. It comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of 13MP + 5MP + 2MP cameras and a 16MP selfie camera.

Z-series price and availability

The Lava Z1 is priced at ₹5,499, while the Lava Z2 is priced at ₹6,999. Similarly, the Lava Z4 costs ₹8,999, while the Lava Z6 costs ₹9,999.

As far as the availability is concerned, the Lava Z1 will be available for purchase from January 26, 2021, across online and offline channels. The Lava Z2, Z4 and Z6 will be available for purchase from January 11, 2021, across online and offline channels.
