Samsung Galaxy A82 with Snapdragon 855 SoC spotted online

Samsung Galaxy A82 will reportedly come with Android 11 and 6GB of RAM. Here is what we know about Galaxy A80 successor.

Samsung is working on a premium handset with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. The phone will be part of the popular Galaxy A-series. Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy A82, the handset has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking website.

According to the benchmark listing, the phone with model number “Samsung SM-A8265” features “msmnile”, which is the codename for Snapdragon 855. Qualcomm had launched the chipset in 2019. The processor went on to power a variety of premium smartphones such as Xiaomi's Redmi K20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Fold.

As far as the benchmark scores go, Samsung Galaxy A82 has bagged 757 single-core score and 2678 multi-core score. The listing further reveals the phone has Android 11 and 6GB of RAM.

As Gizmochina points out, Samsung Galaxy A82 is going to be a big upgrade over the predecessor, Galaxy A80. Also touted as Samsung's first phone with a rotating camera, Galaxy A80 featured Qualcomm's Snapdragon 730G processor. The phone had launched in India for ₹47,990. It's currently available online for ₹32,000 approximately.

The report also highlights that Samsung is using older flagship-level chipsets on its phones. For instance, its Galaxy F62 runs on Exynos 9825, a chip that once powered the Galaxy Note 10.

Samsung Galaxy A80: Specs recap

Samsung Galaxy A80 comes with a 6.7-inch full HD+ sAMOLED notch-less display. The smartphone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G. A 3,700mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging powers the phone.

The rotating camera module on Galaxy A80 has a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 3D depth sensor. Its camera features include 123-degree photos and videos, Live Focus shots, super slo-mo and 4K UHD video recording. The camera, however, does not support OIS.

The smartphone also houses a USB Type-C port, an on-screen fingerprint sensor and Samsung Pay. For audio, it has Dolby Atmos for a surround sound experience. On the software front, Galaxy A80 comes with One UI based o Android Pie. Connectivity options on the Galaxy A80 are dual SIM support, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC.
