Ultimate Ears has unveiled a new waterproof speaker, both compact and original in that it can be affixed to anything and brought anywhere, even in the worst conditions.

The speaker uses Bluetooth to connect to a music source (cell phone, tablet or other compatible device) up to 20 meters away. The UE Roll's upward-facing design also puts out 360-degree sound and the built-in bungee cord loop can be used to attach the speaker to anything, from a backpack to a bicycle or even swim trunks. As far as on-the-go music is concerned, the manufacturer promises 9 hours of battery life.

The device is resistant to dust and shocks, but most importantly, it is rated IPX7, meaning it is water-resistant and can even be submerged up to 1 meter. As for its casing, it is guaranteed to be easy to clean.

The UE Roll joins a lineup of high-end wireless speakers that already includes the UE Boom and Megaboom, and will be available in Europe, the USA and Asia as of the end of June. The confirmed prices for Europe and the USA are €129 and $99 respectively.

A dedicated app, downloadable for free from the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), will serve as a remote control for the speaker, but also allows it to be used as an alarm clock in order to wake up to the sound of music no matter where you are. In the future, it will also serve to update the speaker in case of updates.
