Started in 2009, Busbus.in provides users with the best possible options to travel from one point to another via buses. The service is currently available in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore and gives subscribers complete details of the route to take to get from one place to another.

It also provides a set of alternatives so that you can choose a route, which suites you best. The website was initiated as an effort to provide users with public transport information for cities in India. The idea was to encourage people to use public transport and reduce the ever-growing traffic problems. But, information such as schedules, routes and timings of public transport were not easily available. To overcome this challenge, Busbus.in was initiated.

Says Ruhil Shah, blogger, "The site gives you the complete details about the route you need to take according to factors such as distance between source and destination, all the intermediate stations and all the bus services plying on that route. It even provides a map of the complete route with details."

The website can be accessed by mobile phones and the Internet and is integrated with Google Maps and efficiently caters to all the needs of a visitor or new resident to a particular city who want to travel by bus.

However, it has some drawbacks. Though the bus numbers and their routes are provided, their departure times from the stop are not mentioned. Says Vijay Singh, student, "While travelling to new places, it becomes difficult to use public transport as there is no information available about bus number or routes. So one takes a cab. This website negates that need."
