Lionsgate Play app launched in India, priced at 99 per month

Lionsgate Play is also available at 699 per year. The app can be downloaded on Android and iOS.

Starz today officially launched its OTT app ‘Lionsgate Play' in India. This is the latest streaming service to launch in India as it competes with local and international players.

Lionsgate Play is available at 99 per month, and 699 per year. The app is available on Android and iOS, and on Amazon's Fire TV as well. The official announcement comes a week after the app quietly launched in India. Lionsgate Play made its India debut last year in partnership with Vodafone, Airtel and Reliance Jio.

Lionsgate Play offers a catalogue of original films and television shows across different genres such as romance, thriller, comedy, and action. New content available at launch include romantic comedy Love Life featuring Anna Kendrick, No Man's Land which is a Syrian civil war series, and a comedy series called The Goes Wrong Show. The app also offers content in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, and Bhojpuri.

Lionsgate Play will also feature popular titles such as Hustlers, Angel Has Fallen, Hellboy, and The Gentleman. The company also plans to bring in local content soon. It has partnered with Bollywood actors Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff and Sanjana Sanghi for original content on Lionsgate Play.

“We will also be launching Indian originals in the coming months, featuring untold edgy urban stories from some of the best creative minds in the Indian film industry,” Mr. Rohit Jain, Managing Director, Lionsgate South Asia said.

Lionsgate Play is the latest addition to the growing market of streaming services in India. There's Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar among the international players, and Voot, Zee5 and Viu already offer an array of local content.
