Xiaomi is currently prepping to launch a new budget selfie smartphone in China on May 10. Xiaomi Redmi S2 would be succeeding the company's currently selfie smartphone series, Redmi Y.

In addition to being advertised for its selfie camera, Redmi S2 will also feature a dual-camera setup on the top-left corner of the rear panel. According to recent teasers, Redmi S2 is seen in pink colour with a design similar to current Redmi phones. The smartphone has a flat back, fingerprint sensor on the top and Mi branding at the bottom.

Apart from official teasers, details about Redmi S2 have been revealed through a recent listing on China's TENAA certification website. According to the listing, Redmi S2 will join the company's growing list of phones with edge-to-edge full screen. It will have 5.99-inch HD resolution.

The smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It will come with 64GB of onboard storage. Other key specifications of the phone include 3,080mAh battery, 4G VoLTE support and fingerprint scanner.

Considering that it is going to be focused on selfie enthusiasts, we can expect the phone to come with same the AI features that Mi 6X sported. It may be recalled Xiaomi Mi 6X comes with a bunch AI-focused features, mostly integrated into camera, allowing better object recognition and smart scene recognition among others. The company claims Mi 6X can deliver better low-light selfies than rival Oppo R15 and even iPhone X.
