The evolution of iPhone: Shown in 8 seconds!
Design seems to have been the biggest change in this season's iPhone launch. Only time will tell whether Apple's latest offerings will be a big hit or not. Meanwhile, enjoy this animated evolution theory of Apple!
Steve Jobs's brainchild the first iPhone was launched in January 9, 2007 under Apple Inc., putting an end to all the rumours and speculations surrounding the birth of a 'new generation' of smartphones. Already considered as vintage by some, the original iPhone came with a 3.5 inch display and 320 pixels × 480 pixels resolution.
The phone specifications included a Samsung 32-bit RISC ARM processor, 128 MB RAM, 2MP rear camera, 2.5G EDGE network, all packed into a smartphone that was shipped with the iPhone OS 1 and available in 4GB and 8GB storage capacities. In 2009, users were upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0 which introduced copy and paste and spotlight search for the Home Screen.
During the launch, Steve Jobs had said, 'This is only the beginning.', and rightly so. With each passing year, we saw a new generation of iPhone spring up, mostly in the second quarter. The phones got slimmer with increased storage capacities and improvised operating systems that were aimed at enhancing user experience.
Fast forward to September 9, 2014. Another historic day for Apple as Tim Cook rolled out the new generation of iPhone, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, amidst testing waters. The iPhones were already getting slimmer with each generation, but it is the first time that Apple has decided to introduce a larger display for its smartphone invention. The iPhone 6 measures 4.7 inches diagonally and its big brother, the iPhone 6 Plus, measures 5.5 inches diagonally. The previous iPhones were designed to operate with ease single-handedly, but this has changed significantly with the introduction of a larger size. The latest iPhone is also much thinner at 6.9 mm and 7.1 mm for the 6 and 6 Plus models respectively.
Design seems to have been the biggest change this season. And whether or not Apple loyalists have decided to embrace this latest offering will be seen when the phone hits the stores on September 19 this year. Till then, enjoy this animated evolution of Apple through the years!
