WhatsApp will soon allow you to delete messages even after 2 days!
Sent a wrong message and found out about it very late? Don’t worry! You will be able to delete WhatsApp messages for everyone even after two days.
Have you ever sent a message in a hurry to the wrong person? Or, maybe a message with typos, and realised much later that you shouldn't have sent that message? Thankfully, WhatsApp has a feature to let you delete your sent message and escape the embarrassing moment! The delete for everyone feature was first rolled out by WhatsApp back in 2017. In the initial stage, the time limit to delete any message sent on a personal chat or a group was set at eight minutes. Later, WhatsApp tweaked the time limit to 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds precisely! For now, all WhatsApp users have a limited time to delete any message which could be a text, audio or video shared on the platform in the given time limit.
Now, a WABetaInfo report revealed that WhatsApp is further expanding the time limit to delete any message on WhatsApp- to 2 days and 12 hours! Yes, you will soon be able to delete a message even after two days. That seems like enough time to rectify your mistake and delete the message in case you found it later that you shouldn't have sent it.
WABetaInfo confirmed that “WhatsApp is finally rolling out the new time limit to some beta testers! The previous limit was 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds. We just tried to delete a message sent yesterday and it worked! We can also confirm that the new time limit is really 2 days and 12 hours, the same one that was planned during the development of the feature.” However, WhatsApp is now gradually rolling out this new time limit to delete messages to some beta testers, and more activations are planned over the coming weeks, the report confirms.
WABetaInfo also mentioned that WhatsApp is working on a couple of other features for the delete for everyone feature. There is another feature to delete any message in groups is coming soon if you're a group admin.
