Battlefield 2042 to launch on October 22, to feature India map: Check details and availability

Ahead of E3 2021, the annual trade event for the video game industry that begins next week, DICE and Electronic Arts have announced the highly anticipated Battlefield 2042 first-person shooter set in a dystopian world is coming to PCs and consoles on October 22.

Battlefield 2042 will not feature a single-player campaign this time, instead focusing on the more popular multiplayer mode that supports up to 128 players, according to Polygon. Set amid rising sea levels, a world on the brink of environmental collapse, economic misery, the world has been thrown into disarray and soldiers now fight to save the planet and to survive the new dystopian reality.

While playing Battlefield, gamers will be able to use drones, wingsuits, quadruped robots wingsuits, along with advanced warplanes and tanks and will battle for technological advancement, gathering resources and gain territory across India, South Korea, Singapore Qatar and Antarctica.

In addition to the regions specified above, Battlefield 2042 players will also have to deal with natural anomalies such as tornadoes, sandstorms, as well as other calamities that can scatter them all over the area. However, users can also take advantage of these events to gain an upper hand over their opponents in the game -- but the events will be unpredictable, according to senior game designer Nickole Li.

In multiplayer mode, gamers will be able to try out three modes. The first is Hazard Zone, which features a tight squad play for teammates -- but isn’t a battle royale mode according to the game’s design director Daniel Berlin, the report states. The second is called All-out Warfare, which will feel familiar to Battefield fans, with larger maps and bigger team sizes. The third mode will be announced later by the studio.

According to the report, DICE and Electronic Arts has planned a reveal of the studio’s contribution to the Battlefield 2042 game on July 22, as part of the latter’s EA Play Live event. It will cost $59.99 on the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and Windows PCs from Steam, the Epic Games Store and EA’s Origin. Meanwhile, if you own a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, be prepared to shell out $69.99 for the game.
