Fortnite, the popular battle royale game that is available for Windows, macOS, consoles and Android smartphones, is preparing for another major in-game event. Just like other events held in the past, Fortnite is teasing the arrival of the upcoming event in a flashy manner, so that it is almost impossible for gamers to miss it. Developer Epic Games has now added a massive alien ship flying right above the centre of the island, that displays a large clock with a countdown timer that translates to August 6 and that is when the event may well be held.
Short on details: Epic Games is not very forthcoming, and has stated that the ship’s intent “doesn’t seem to be for harm”. Predictably, the ship’s purpose has not been revealed and the developer has stated that it will “become clearer” in the near future – or by August 6. We reported last month that Fortnite had hosted a beach party featuring aliens, after which the game regions and weapons were updated to feature flying saucers, a rail gun, and brought back some of the classic weapons in the game.

A look-back at Fortnite events: Long-time Fortnite gamers will remember some of the most notable live events inside the game, such as the exclusive clip of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that was played in the video game that drew millions of players, or the memorable 2019 ‘The End’ event that featured rockets crashing into the earth followed by a black hole that shut down the game for a day before chapter two was introduced. Similarly, Fortnite’s ‘The Device’ event from last year saw the iconic Agency area be destroyed and turn into the Authority which started season three of the game.
What may be coming on Fortnite: While Fortnite has recently added new characters to the game’s Battle Pass membership tier such as Marvel’s Loki, LeBron James, Superman and gamer/YouTuber Bugha. Similarly, recently leaks reported by Eurogamer have pointed out that the developer could also secretly be working on an upcoming Ariana Grande concert, based on a tip from a Reddit user who appears to have knowledge of the developer’s upcoming plans. However, fans must take the news with a pinch of salt until Epic Games themselves make any formal announcement regarding such a live concert.
