Valve has postponed the upcoming Steam Game Festival to June 16. The ‘Summer Edition’ of Steam Game Festival was earlier scheduled to start on June 9.
According to the updated schedule, Steam’s Summer Game Festival will now take place between June 16 and June 22. Steam Game Festival will still take place this month where players will get to try out limited-time demos of titles releasing next year.
“The Steam Game Festival is an event that shines a spotlight on games set to be released within the next year. From June 16th - 22nd, check out upcoming releases, try them out with time-limited demos or short playable experiences, connect with the developers behind the games, and add games to your wishlist for a reminder when they release!” Steam wrote on its website.
Valve hasn’t provided any reason behind postponing the event but it’s likely the decision was taken due to the ongoing protests in the US. Other gaming events and tech events in general have been postponed in light of the protests.
Sony was scheduled to host its first major PS5 event where it would showcase the first games coming to the console. But it postponed the event saying that now is not the time to celebrate. Epic Games also delayed Fortnite Season 3 and The Device live event, while Rockstar shut down GTA and Read Dead Online for two hours to honor George Floyd.
