Ever since Josh Wardle created the trend-setting word game Wordle, the internet just cannot have enough of it. The list of regular players has been increasing consistently- from just a few thousands to millions! Last reported, Wordle game had more than 3 million players. While the game lures in new players with its fun gameplay, engaging yet minimalist UI, win streaks and social media bragging rights, the veteran players of the game might be looking for new challenges. So, if you are someone who gets the Wordle answer within 2-3 attempts, you need to level up with some of the Wordle alternatives available online. One of them, which is sure to test out your grit, is Quordle. Quordle presents you four word puzzles at the same time and forces you to strategize from a whole different perspective.
The game was created by Freddie Meyer after he came across Dordle, a Wordle alternative where you have to simultaneously guess two different words. Meyer did not find it too challenging and decided to create Quordle, doubling the difficulty. Like the name suggests, in Quordle, you simultaneously guess four five-letter words. You have nine attempts to do so, but every guess applies to all four word puzzles.
This instantly takes away all your existing strategies and forces you to come up with different plans. But just like the difficulty, the fun is also four times with this game. You have to systematically plan the most efficient way to find all the right combinations of letters to guess the four words. The gameplay is pretty similar to Wordle. Every attempt will be highlighted in green, yellow or gray, which would suggest if the letter is in the right position, wrong position or not at all in the word, respectively.
The game has gained massive popularity with the website claiming 500,000 daily players and a total of 1 million players on the platform. “I have no plans to monetize Quordle, I just enjoy watching everyone enjoy this insane game,” said Meyer. You can check out the game here.
If you are not ready for Quordle, there are other Wordle alternatives that you can try as well. While these games do not necessarily increase the difficulty level a lot, they offer different thematic versions to allow you to have fun even after you have solved your word of the day. Among them is Absurdle, famously known as the evil twin of Wordle. In this game, you need to find a secret word while the game uses its entire word bank to make the challenge more difficult for you. Then, there is Nerdle, which offers a math puzzle in the word game schematic. You have to correctly guess a simple equation consisting of numbers from 0-9 and symbols of +,-,*,/ and =. There is also Worldle which is a geographical version of the game, which makes you guess the right country or territory.
