Xbox Live Gold prices won’t increase, announced Microsoft after gamers show anger

Microsoft, after months of rumours and leaks, raised the prices of its Xbox Live Gold recently. While it didn’t affect the existing 12-month and 6-month users by a lot, it did have a severe impact on those with 1-month recurring subscriptions. But the Xbox maker now has reversed its decision soon after it started getting negative feedback from gamers. 

“We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing,” stated the official Xbox News post.

What comes as good news is that Microsoft has not just reversed the pricing but is also giving gamers the ability to play free-to-play games (like Fortnite or Apex Legends) without Xbox Live Gold membership. “We are working hard to deliver this change as soon as possible in the coming months,” added the post.

In case you are an Xbox Live Gold member, you can continue with the current pricing for renewal. New members can also come onboard by paying the same price for the subscription. It costs $9.99 for 1-month, $24.99 for 3-months, $39.99 for 6-months and $59.99 for retail 12-months.

In case you missed it, the increased price resulted in paying $1 more for 1-month subscription, while the 3-month subscription increased by $5. This means $10.99 for 1-month, $29.99 for 3-months and $59.99 for 6-months.

Recently, Xbox announced a bunch of new games that will be available in Xbox Game Pass for consoles and PCs later this month. The list includes top gaming titles such as the Yakuza Remastered Collection, Desperados III and Smite among others.
