Airtel BlueJeans launched to take on Reliance JioMeet, Zoom: How it works

Airtel has partnered with Verizon-backed BlueJeans for its video conferencing platform in India. Airtel BlueJeans will be offered to its enterprise customers, unlike JioMeet which is available for all users.

Airtel hasn’t officially launched its video conferencing platform yet. It has however been listed on Airtel’s website which was first spotted by OnlyTech. Airtel BlueJeans will be offered initially with a free trial offer, and the service is said to be activated within 24 hours. Airtel will also offer customised plans for its video service.

The platform also brings down Indian dial-in, per-call cost to ₹0.50. It is also equipped with Airtel Audio Bridge which offers Indian/international local dial-in facility on an unlimited or pay-per-use model. All calls are encrypted with AES-256 GCM encryption in Airtel BlueJeans. It also supports two-step authentication for meetings. Airtel says that BlueJeans user data will be stored in India.

Airtel BlueJeans supports HD video calling with Dolby Voice support. It also offers one-touch access to schedule, join and host meetings. ‘Smart Meetings’ feature in Airtel BlueJeans will capture the most important discussion points, assign action items and provide highlight reels as well.

Airtel BlueJeans can be integrated into other platforms like Microsoft Teams, Workplace by Facebook, Office 365, Google Calendar, Slack, Splunk and Trello. The video conferencing platform also has a waiting room which gives hosts better control over participants.

Airtel is the latest entrant in the video conferencing segment, and shortly after Jio launched JioMeet. Airtel BlueJeans, however, is aimed more towards enterprises. It will be competing with other platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.
