Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg were the highest earning billionaires during Covid-19 pandemic

While the economies continue to go flat around the world due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, two of the tech big wids, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg continue to earn more. Amazon CEO Bezos and Facebook co-founder Zuckerberg were the biggest gainers when it came to billionaires in the US. While Bezos added $34.6 billion to his fortunes, Zuckerberg earned $25 billion more between mid-March and mid-May, as per Forbes data for America’s more than 600 billionaires (via CNBC).

Also mentioned is that Tesla owner Elon Musk had the largest percentage gain of billionaires in the past two months. Musk’s net worth went up by 48% in this period to $36 billion. Facebook’s Zuckerberg followed closely with his wealth going up by 46% to $80 billion. As for Bezos, his wealth reportedly increased by 31% to $147 billion. Even Bezos’ wife, who received Amazon shares after their divorce, increased her wealth by a third to $48 billion, as per the report.

However, as per Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Warren Buffet’s wealth declined by $20 billion for the year, while Microsoft’s Bill Gates went down by $4.3 billion. However, Bezos did gain $35.5 billion, which is way more than what Zuckerberg gained for the year ($9 billion).

As per Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Jeff Bezo leads the table with $147 billion net worth, followed by Bill Gates who is at $108 billion, Mark Zuckerberg with $89.1 billion, Warren Buffett with $69.2 billion, Larry Page with $67.1 billion, Steve Ballmer with $66.5 billion and Sergey Brin with $65.1 billion.
