Android users don’t download Clubhouse on Play Store, it’s fake!

Voice-based social networking platform, Clubhouse, has been in the news owing to the buzz created by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Elon Musk. Its popularity can be estimated from the fact it already crossed the 8.1 million downloads mark on Apple’s App Store since it was launched back in December last year. However, it is yet to make a mark on Google’s Play Store as the Android version of the app isn’t available yet. This hasn’t stopped tricksters from floating their own apps on Google’s platform.

There are a number of apps that go by the name ‘Clubhouse’ on the Google Play Store. All of these apps are from different developers and some of them have even managed to copy the logo of the app, which has the side portrait of a man in a hat in Black and White. But none of these apps are from Alpha Exploration Co, who have developed the original Clubhouse app that is currently available to iOS users only.

Wait, there’s more. The confusion regarding the availability of the Clubhouse app on Android doesn’t end there.

There’s another app called Clubhouse, which is essentially a project management tool for software teams. A number of Android users downloaded this project management app from the Play Store believing it was the voice-based social media platform. Upon realising that is not the case, Android users downvoted the app to the point wherein the makers had to pull down the app just to avoid confusion, 9To5Google reports.

The makers of the Clubhouse, the one that is a project management tool, have also created a Twitter account in order to help distinguish themselves from the voice chat app.

It is worth noting that while Clubhouse may not be available on the Play Store yet, the makers have already confirmed that they have started working on the Android version of the app. This means Android users will be able to use the platform soon. Till then all Android users can do is sit and wait.
