The new smartphone competes with a range of under ₹15,000 Android smartphones, especially Xiaomi's popular Redmi Note 5 phones. As mentioned in our first impressions, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 looks quite similar to its rival. The smartphone also closely matches the specifications of Redmi Note 5 but with subtle differences.
Let's take a look at the top features of Asus' new budget smartphone.
Face Recognition
Asus rolled out a new system update for the smartphone today which brings 'Face Recognition' feature. Setting up facial recognition is pretty simple and fast on the smartphone. As seen in other smartphones, you will have to press the power button to unlock the device with your face. In addition to facial recognition, the smartphone also has a fingerprint sensor at the rear.
5,000mAh battery
This is one of the highlights of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. The smartphone houses a massive 5,000mAh battery along with support for fast charging. Asus compares its smartphone's battery against the Redmi Note 5's claiming that it takes over 2 hours to fully charge as compared to the latter which takes more than 3 hours. Redmi Note 5 has a smaller 4,000mAh battery.
Stock Android
Ditching its custom Zenfone UI, Asus has launched this smartphone with stock Android OS. Zenfone Max Pro M1 runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. Asus has also promised OS upgrades to the upcoming Android P and even next year's Android Q.
Dual cameras
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 features a dual-camera setup at the rear which are vertically aligned. The setup comprises of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors with LED flash and 4K video recording capabilities. The dual cameras come with dept-of-field effect which blurs out the background while focusing on the subject. The front 8-megapixel camera also comes with the depth effect.
