Google has been putting efforts to stop dangerous malware from getting into Google Play Store apps. The tech giant keeps a tap on these apps and removes them. However, a security team at McAfee has found a number of dangerous adware apps on Google Play Store that could install highly intrusive advertisements on your device. Once installed, you will start getting annoying ads on devices. That’s not all, it will even block other apps’ windows as well as fill your phone with unwanted notifications, create shortcuts, and even load websites. This time Google has detected 13 malicious apps pretending to be useful software, from QR code scanners, to travel tools, and much more. So, if you have installed any of these apps, you need to delete them from your phone.

McAfee in its blog post mentioned that these apps are as dangerous as other forms of malware. They can be a resource hog, resulting in slowing down your phone’s hardware performance and draining battery life.

These apps let you click on advertisements without letting you know to generate revenue at the expense of your phone’s performance and battery life. Though they are no more available on Google Play Store, don’t side-load or install using a third-party app store. The best thing to keep adware off your device is downloading apps from trusted publishers and official app stores. Also, check the background, developers and more of any software before downloading, and pay attention to the permissions an app asks for.
