The Indian government today announced the ban of 59 Chinese apps. Most of these apps may be unheard of but the list contains popular names like TikTok, Shareit and Xender.
The government in a release said that the decision to ban these apps came from concerns over user and data security. It said there have been multiple complaints about these apps possibly collecting user data. There’s no clarification on how exactly this ban will work.
In the meanwhile, we take a look at the browser and utility Chinese apps banned in India. Most of these apps are heavily used in India.

These apps are still available on Google Play Store and App Store but it’s likely that they’ll be removed soon. For now you can choose to uninstall these apps if they’re on your smartphone.
