WeTransfer is one of the most popular file-sharing platforms. But it is currently inaccessible in India following orders by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to ban the site. There’s still no clarification on why WeTransfer has been banned but the company said it is working on fixing the issues.
WeTransfer’s ban comes at a time when such platforms are highly required for remote working. If you use WeTransfer frequently or need file-sharing platforms on a daily basis, there are other options you can go for. So here are the top WeTransfer alternatives available in India.
Dropbox
Dropbox, like WeTransfer, lets you share files up to 2GB for free. It also has paid packages that you can purchase for storage expansion up to 2TB or 3TB. Dropbox is available on the web and there’s a desktop app as well.
Google Drive
Google Drive is another great option for file sharing. It’s easy since it syncs your Google contacts and the files remain in your shared Drive. Every Google account holder gets 15GB of storage for free. One can always upgrade to Google One for more storage.
Smash
Smash is possibly the easiest platform for file-sharing as it doesn’t require users to create an account. It doesn’t have any limits on the file sizes either but it does have an expiration of 14 days for files shared. There’s an option of password-protecting your shared files too.
Hightail
Hightail offers 2GB of storage for free but lets you share files up to 100MB at once. It also comes with subscription packages that offer more storage and increased file size limit. Hightail also lets you share files from Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and Core.
