Facebook partners with Saregama to bring 100,000 Indian songs to your Stories, Posts

Facebook and Instagram users can now add songs from Saregama's catalogue to their Stories and Posts.

Facebook has announced a global deal with Saregama to bring the Indian music label’s vast catalogue of songs to Facebook and its sister platforms.

At Facebook, we believe music is an integral part of self-expression and bringing people closer together and creating memories that last. We are very proud to partner with Saregama that will allow people on our platforms, globally, to use their favourite retro Indian music to further enrich their content on our platforms,” Manish Chopra, Director and Head of Partnerships, Facebook India said in a statement.

The newly announced partnership will allow Facebook and Instagram users to use songs from Saregama’s vast catalogue which consists of over 100,000 songs across genres such as film songs, devotional music, ghazals & indipop in more than 25 languages in their videos, Stories and other creative content.

In addition to that, Facebook and Instagram users will also be able to add songs to their Facebook Profiles.

Saregama, which is one of the oldest music labels in the world, has songs by music legends likes Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Gulzar, Jagjit Singh, R.D Burman, Kalyanji Anandji, Geeta Dutt and Laxmikant Pyarelal in its library.

Facebook, in the past has also signed similar deals with T-Series, Yash Raj Films and Zee Music. As per a Bloomberg report, the social media giant is also in talks with international labels including Warner Music and Universal to make their music catalogue available on its platform.
