iOS users have been struggling with poor battery life on their devices for a long time now, and one of the main culprits has been Facebook's official app. Now, the world's largest social network says that it has finally fixed the problem.
In a post , Facebook engineering manager Ari Grant announced an improvement to the Facebook app, reducing its drain on battery life.
Grant acknowledged that there were "a few key issues" resulting in rapid battery drain on the Facebook app for iOS. In his post, he detailed the two main issues: a "CPU spin" in the network code causing repeated processing and a problem with audio session management, when the audio remained running silently in the background.
While the update to the app claims "some improvements that should start making this better", Facebook is not guaranteeing that it will improve phone battery usage.
Here's Grant's full post explaining the fix. Go update your Facebook app now.
