Google Meet free unlimited calls extended to September 30

Google has been extending the free services of Google Meet since last year due to Covid-19. It was supposed to expire on September 30 but later extended to March 31, 2021 and Google has again extended it until June this year. Google Meet users can continue making longer calls for free.

Google Meet’s unlimited call feature lets users make calls for up to 24 hours. This is actually limited to 60 minutes for Google Meet free users. With the extension, anyone with a Gmail account can now host Google Meet calls for as long as 24 hours, and for free. Considering how Covid-19 cases are still active globally, and people are continuing to work from home it will be very helpful.

For the additional Google Meet features, users will have to go for Google Workspace subscription plans. With this Google Meet users can invite up to 250 participants for a call, save meetings to Google Drive, and have access to features like hand raise, polls and Q&A, breakout rooms, attendance reports, intelligent noise cancellation.

Google in the recent months, has been adding new features to Meet. It recently added a grid view for its mobile apps. This feature will be available on iOS first with the ability to view up to eight participants at the same time. Those who are speaking will be highlighted, and those who do not interact for a while will move out of view to make space for other participants. This is similar to how the grid view works on Google Meet’s web app.
