Instagram has released new guidelines that are aimed at shedding light on using copyrighted music in Live videos, Stories and other posts on the image-sharing platform. The announcement that contains the dos and don’t of using music includes an update that makes it easier for users to avoid copyrighted music in their videos.

The company said that it is improving the in-product video notifications such that it gets easier for users to avoid music in a way that violates Instagram’s guidelines. The photo-sharing app said that it would be surfacing notifications earlier to live broadcasters to give people time to adjust their streams and avoid interruptions.

What’s more? If your video does get muted or blocked for violating the company’s rules, Instagram will make it easier for users to understand what needs to be done next to stop the interruption.

“These notifications are intended to alert you when our systems detect that your broadcast or uploaded video may include music in a way that doesn’t adhere to our licensing agreements,” Instagram wrote in a blog post.

Coming to the guidelines, the Facebook-owned app said that there were no limits on music in Stories or traditional musical performances. The company also said that there was a high likelihood of users’ videos getting muted or the broadcast getting interrupted if they use full-length tracks in their post. The company, however, suggested using shorter music clips, as a workaround. Lastly, the company said that videos must contain a visual component.

“And although music is launched on our platforms in more than 90 countries, there are places where it is not yet available. So if your video includes recorded music, it may not be available for use in those locations,” Instagram added.
