Bing Search Engine (Microsoft)

Microsoft may not have as much search engine market share as Google but it is still giving a revamp to Bing search. And this time it’s not just the new logo but also a slight change in the name. Bing will now be called as Microsoft Bing. The firm didn’t reveal in detail as to why it took this move though. But it does confirm that adding company’s name before Bing will reflect “the continued integration of our search experiences across the Microsoft family.”

This move doesn’t seem surprising as the company recently added ‘Microsoft’ in a few of its services. For instance, Windows Store changed to Microsoft Store and Office 365 changed to Microsoft 365.

Recently, the Redmond-based tech giant also improved its separate Microsoft Search product. This usually powers services like Windows, Office, and others. Now, the Search function will appear inside Bing too so one can go for intranet search for documents and other such files.

On a related note, Google’s latest default search engine auction saw Microsoft’s Bing beating DuckDuckGo to become one of the options to be offered to Android users during setup in select European countries. DuckDuckGo was the most frequently offered alternative so far and wasn’t pleased at the loss. This lead to the company slamming Google’s auction process as “pay-to-play”.
