Microsoft testing feature that shares your Edge browsing data with it’s Windows OS for better experience

We have often seen devices and platforms asking for permissions to give you a ‘better experience’. Some even think these are just ways to extract more information from the users. However, like it or not, Microsoft is doing something similar. It has introduced a new setting called "share browsing data with other Windows features" in the latest Canary build of Microsoft Edge browser.

As mentioned by Beta News, Microsoft is planning to use your Edge data related to browsing information, history, bookmarked sites and more, searchable right from Windows Search instead of just being able to search them from within the browser.

In case, you are one of those who is concerned about your browsing history and other data, this feature, although optional, might not go well in your eyes. “When turned on, Microsoft Edge will connect local browsing data from this profile with the rest of Windows. Turning this feature on will help you find information from your history, favorites, top sites, and recent tabs more easily using features such as the Windows Search box,” states the description.

On the brighter part, this feature is still in Canary Build, which means it is still experimental and not a mandatory feature.

Recently, the Edge division announced that it will be following Google’s Chrome by adjusting the release cycle of the Edge browser to match Google Chrome’s. “As contributors to the Chromium project, we look forward to the new 4-week major release cycle cadence that Google announced to help deliver that innovation to our customers even faster,” Microsoft said in a blog post. This upgraded release cycle will go into effect with Edge 94 which is expected to be launched by September.
