Ever since the government banned TikTok in India, there has been a surge in the usage of short-video apps by Indian developers. Mitron is one such app that has witnessed exponential growth in the past couple of months. After crossing the 21 million downloads milestone earlier this month, the app achieved another milestone today.
The Mitron app today announced that it had crossed 33 million downloads on the Google Play Store.
In addition to charting 33 million downloads, the popular short-video sharing app also announced that it had garnered massive viewership on its platform ever since the TikTok ban. The company announced that a total of 9 billion videos has been viewed in one month on its platform ever since the government banned China-based apps in the country.

“The idea behind the development of the app was to provide a platform that lets users upload and watch an array of short videos. It is heartening to see the app popularity gained by Mitron within a short span of time,” Mitron founder and CEO Shivank Agarwal said on the development.
He also said that the app was witnessing strong traction from smaller towns and cities in India such as Hubli and Ludhiana.
“We are seeing strong traction from smaller cities and towns across the country, with towns like Karnal, Hubli, Bhavnagar, Aligarh, Ludhiana and Vijayawada clocking more than 100,000 users,” Shivank added.
