Back in November last year, Sony had introduced plans to enter drone space through an Airpeak project. Months later, Sony has finally given us the first preview of what to expect from Airpeak drones.
At the ongoing virtual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021, Sony showcased its first Airpeak drone. Featuring the in-house Alpha mirrorless camera, the AirPeak drone is aimed at content creators including videography and photography enthusiasts. The drone showcased the technology conference came with a familiar quadcopter design. It also features two landing gear extensions that retract when in the flight.
“Airpeak, the industry's smallest class of drone that can be equipped with the Alpha system, is capable of dynamic filming and precise, stable flight, and aims to contribute to the world of entertainment while also pursuing new possibilities for creative expression,” said Sony in a post.

Apart from the drone in action, Sony hasn’t revealed much about the project. According to Sony’s official Airpeak website, the company is still in the process of getting feedback from professional drone users and collaborators in the US and Japan. As far as the commercial launch goes, it’s likely to happen later this year, most likely in Spring.
