Twitter Live Cricket Scorecard launched; catch T20 World Cup now

Cricket has an immense fan following in India. It’s almost like a religion wherein fans watch repeats of repeat matches with the same enthusiasm as they watch the match the first time it was streamed. This can be ascertained from the fact that between 1 July 2020-1 July 2021 there were more than 75 million conversations about cricket on Twitter in the country. Now, Twitter has launched a new feature in India that will help cricket fans in the country get a minute-by-minute account of a cricket match with ease. The messaging app has started testing the new feature called Twitter Live Cricket Scorecard in India.

This new feature, as Twitter India explained, will give Cricket fans in India access to a scorecard that will update them about the latest scores from an ongoing cricket match. Twitter India said that during a match, the scorecard will appear on the Explore tab and live Events Page. Fans will be able to follow the scores from the match in real-time, while scrolling through Tweets. This means that when fans on Twitter are engaging in real-time match conversation, they won’t have to go anywhere else to keep up with the score.

Twitter also announced the feature on its official Twitter India Twitter page. “Hey #CricketTwitter, we heard you. Introducing live cricket scorecards, so you don’t miss out on the action. To see live cricket scores, just tap the Sports tab on the Explore page,” Twitter India wrote in a post that was accompanied by a short video announcing the feature.

As far as the availability is concerned, Twitter India’s Live Cricket Scorecard will be available to everyone in India on iOS as well as the Web and will roll out to most people on Android.

The list of Twitter-related features doesn’t end there. Twitter said that in order to make the experience even better for Cricket fans on its platform, Twitter is also testing its first Community outside of the US dedicated to Indian cricket fans. This community is called Cricket Twitter - India and it is dedicated to talking about all things cricket in multiple Indian languages.

For those of you who don’t use Twitter as much, Communities on Twitter are equivalent of Facebook Groups wherein users can have discussions about a particular topic. The micro-blogging platform started testing Communities in the US in September this year and at the moment, they are accessible only through an invite on iOS, Web and Android mobile browser. However, anyone globally can be invited to join a Community via Direct Messages.

Communities are started and managed by people on Twitter — moderators who enforce Community rules and keep conversations informative, relevant, and fun. People who accept invites to join a community become members and will be able to invite others in turn. When you join a Community, you can Tweet directly to that audience instead of to all your followers. While Community Tweets are publicly available, only members in the same Community are able to reply and join the conversation so it stays intimate and relevant. Like with public Tweets, anyone can read, Quote Tweet, and report Community Tweets.
