WhatsApp's latest beta update reveals new ‘wallpaper dimming' feature

WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for its beta app on Android. The latest update brings bug fixes and shows a glimpse of a new wallpaper feature.

WhatsApp beta version 2.20.200.6 can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. This is available only for WhatsApp public beta users. Those interested in experiencing unreleased WhatsApp can enroll in its beta programme. In the latest update, WhatsApp has fixed the storage usage section. As noted by WABetaInfo, the storage usage section would crash when users tried to open it. There’s another bug on WhatsApp that resets the recently used emojis. This has however not been fixed in this update.

WhatsApp has also rolled out a new sticker pack that’s available to all users on Android. It’s called Usagyuuun and it’s available for WhatsApp users on iOS as well. This beta update also reveals a new feature WhatsApp is working on for wallpapers. It’s called “wallpaper dimming” and it lets users change the opacity of the chat wallpaper. This feature is however in development, and not available to even public beta users on WhatsApp.

This is not the only chat wallpaper feature WhatsApp is working on. In the previous beta update, we saw an interesting addition to chat wallpapers of doodles. The default chat wallpaper on WhatsApp has doodles all over it. WhatsApp is working on letting users add these doodles to solid coloured wallpapers. It will be the same doodles but on different coloured wallpapers. Users will have the option to keep the doodles on or off on the chat wallpapers.

But this feature too is not available for end users yet. WhatsApp is expected to release these features soon for all users.
