WhatsApp Stickers launched in pay mode; Here’s how to get culture into chats

WhatsApp Stickers are built on various cultural expressions related to money exchange like 'Pyaar aur Payments', 'Pay OK Please', 'Pay Aadha or Zyaada' and more. These will be available in WhatsApp Payments mode.

For a long time now, WhatsApp users have been able to share stickers with their friends and family members to express their opinions during a conversation. More recently, reports hinted towards the company working on a feature that would enable users to add special stickers to payments on the platform via WhatsApp Pay. Now months later, WhatsApp payments in-app Stickers have finally been launched.

WhatsApp says that these stickers are built on various cultural expressions related to money exchange. WhatsApp has also collaborated with five celebrated Indian women artists/illustrators to exclusively launch this new pack of WhatsApp Payments stickers for its users in India. “Furthermore, these sticker packs celebrate the Indian culture and the women artists behind their curation, and the community of illustrators who bring alive stories through their signature art forms,” WhatsApp said.

The first sticker pack is called ‘Pyaar aur Payments’ and it has been designed by artist and illustrator Anjali Mehta. Her sticker pack focuses on affection behind payments. You can access it here. The second sticker pack called ‘Pay OK Please’ has been designed by sketch artist and gif curator and aims to convey the stories of pleasant experiences around payments. It can be accessed here. The third sticker pack is called ‘Pay Aadha or Zyaada’ and it has been designed by independent illustrator and muralist Neethi. This sticker pack presents a whacky take on what payment experiences can be for people. It can be accessed here. The fourth sticker pack called ‘Sabse Bada Rupaiya’ has been designed by illustrator and artist Osheen Silva. You can access it here. Lastly, ‘Apna Sapna Money’ sticker has been designed by Mumbai based graphic designer Mira Felicia Malhotra. It can be accessed here

Here’s how you can add stickers to payments on WhatsApp:

On Android

Step 1: Open a chat with the person you want to send money to.

Step 2: Then tap the Payments icon.

Step 3: Enter the amount you would like to send.

Step 4: Tap the emoji icon in the Add a Note message bar.

Step 5: Then tap the Pick a Sticker icon.

Step 6: Choose a sticker.

Step 7: Tap Next > Send Payment.

Step 8: Enter your UPI PIN.

On iPhone

Step 1: Open a chat with the person you want to send money to > tap the Payments icon.

Step 2: Enter the rupee amount you would like to send.

Step 3: Tap the Stickers icon in the Add a Note message bar.

Step 4: Choose a sticker.

Step 5: Tap Next and then tap Send Payment.

Step 5: Enter your UPI PIN.
