Xiaomi is looking to ride on the success of its Note 7 series with a new smartphone, Redmi Note 7S. Scheduled to launch in India on May 20, Xiaomi has already confirmed it will be featuring 48-megapixel rear camera.
Xiaomi currently offers Redmi Note 7 Pro with 48-megapixel rear camera. The phone uses Sony's IMX586 sensor to deliver the high resolution camera. Redmi Note 7S is expected to use the same sensor.
Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi took a dig at OnePlus 7 Pro, saying "There's a new flagship in town." It also promised to launch a new "Flagship Killer 2.0" - a jab at OnePlus' 'flagship killer' moniker.
Xiaomi is expected to reveal more details about its Redmi Note 7S in coming days.
Just to recap, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. It runs on a 4,000 battery. Redmi Note 7 Pro features 48-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual rear cameras. On the front it has a 13-megapixel selfie camera. Redmi Note 7 Pro also features USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and IR Blaster.
The phone is available in India at a starting price of ₹13,999.
