Western Digital launches SanDisk Extreme, Extreme Pro portable SSDs in India: Price and features

Western Digital today announced its two new SanDisk portable SSDs that are claimed to deliver almost two times the speed over their previous generations. Called the SanDisk Extreme and SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD, these are built to keep up with high quality content demands. It is also aimed at professionals like photographers, videographers and enthusiasts.

According to the firm, SanDisk portable SSDs are designed to handle assignments related to work from home, in office, or while you're on the go.

While the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is for those who need more memory, along with the durable and fast drive, the SanDisk Extreme Pro is built for professionals who count on sustained performance while they're traveling.

Western Digital says that these SSDs are available in capacities up to 4TB , which will be available in India from April 2021. The flagship SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD comes with a forged aluminium chassis design and stays cool even during heavy workload. It also has a durable silicon design to withstand the rigors of production. In addition, the drive helps keep content safe with password protection and an upgrade to 256-bit AES hardware encryption.

Talking about the key features, the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD comes with up to 2000Mb/s read and up to 2000 Mb/s write speeds. It has up to two meter drop protection with an IP55 rating, which makes it easy to carry around. The Extreme Pro SSD is compatible with all devices whether you're running a PC or Mac computer or with USB type-C smartphones. It also has a five year limited warranty.

On the other hand, SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD comes with up to 1050Mb/s read and up to 1000Mb/s write speeds. Like the Extreme Pro Portable SSD, this too, has a two meter drop protection with IP55 water and dust resistance.

There's also 256 bit AES hardware encryption, along with the compatibility with all devices, ranging from Windows to Mac, and even USB type C smartphones. This also comes with a five year limited warranty.

The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is available in 500GB storage capacity, priced at 7,999, while the 1TB and 2TB versions are priced at 19,999 and 27,499. The 4TB model, however, will ship later in April 2021. Tthe more powerful SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD is available in 1TB storage, which is priced at 19,999. And 2TB storage priced at 34,999. The 4TB model will be shipping in April this year.
