The iPhone 14 is now the most highly anticipated smartphone for this year and based on the leaks so far, it is surely going to excite the masses. While the features and upgrades are crucial to many, what matters the most is the price. Every new iPhone has largely continued becoming more expensive and this year, the earlier rumours hinted at a $100 premium on all the models. And with no Mini this year, the iPhone 14 series was expected to start at a price of $899 for the vanilla model. However, a new leak suggests otherwise.

Based on a post from the account "yeux1122" on the Korean blog Naver, Apple has taken the decision to not increase the price of the base iPhone 14 across the world. The MacRumours report says that the decision has been taken to boost sales and offset the decline in demand induced by the global market slowdown. With no iPhone 14 Mini available at the $699 price, it would be crucial for Apple to not show the iPhone 14 as a more expensive model than the current gen iPhone 13.

It is said that the decision to freeze the price of the base 6.1-inch iPhone 14 has been made at the top executive level. Apple will keep the price low despite the increased production costs and disrupted supply chain.

However, we won't be surprised if Apple later decides to announce a price increase citing these increasing manufacturing costs. Remember that Apple will continue to sell the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini at a lower price post the iPhone 14 launch, and in several emerging markets like India, the older models is where Apple makes a lot of profit. We could also see a dip in price of the iPhone 12, which has been around since 2020.

If this ends up being true, the iPhone 14 could see a huge demand among consumers. What remains to be seen is how Apple prices the rest of the iPhone 14 models. The iPhone 14 Max, which is supposed to be a bigger version of the iPhone 14, is expected to carry a price of $899. The Pro variants will start at $1,099.
