HMD Global is reportedly working on a new G-series of smartphones. One of the first phones in the new lineup is said to be Nokia G10. At the moment, there's no word on the official launch date but is expected to happen sooner or later. Ahead of the launch, Nokia G10 has made an early appearance on Malaysia's SIRIM certification site. The listing hints at the imminent launch of the phone.

The listing reveals the phone has a TA-1334 model number. Older rumours suggest the phone could be focused on gaming enthusiasts. Some other reports have said the phone could just be a simple re-branding with the “G” suffix of the future Nokia phones.

According to reports, Nokia G10 will come with a 6.4-inch screen. The phone will reportedly run on an octa-core processor. It will also come with a quad-camera setup. The configuration is said to have a 48-megapixel sensor. Other rumoured specifications of the phone are 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. Nokia G10 is said to be a rebranded version of the Nokia 5.4.

Launched in India recently, Nokia 5.4 comes with a 6.39-inch HD+ display with a punch-hole camera. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. It also has expandable storage support of up to 512GB via a microSD card. The quad-camera setup consists of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. Up front, Nokia 5.4 has a 16-megapixel camera for selfies.

That said, a report this week said that HMD Global is contemplating to implement a new naming scheme to have a more common combination of alphabet and numbers. It will be similar to Samsung's Galaxy S or M series. Xiaomi, Motorola and others have implemented a similar naming scheme.
