Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite to have smaller cover display, IP rating
The Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite would feature 4G LTE connectivity.
Samsung is planning to launch the second generation Fold smartphone alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series in the third quarter of the year. Now, word is that the company will launch a cheaper version of the Galaxy Fold 2 -- Galaxy Fold Lite -- later this year which will feature a smaller cover display and IP rating.
According to a report by Sam Mobile, Samsung has filed a patent for a foldable display smartphone that features a smaller notch. The patent images reveal that the phone will have a notch on the inside that is stacked towards the top right corner of the main display. This notch houses two cameras along with a bunch of other sensors.
At the back, there is a triple camera setup and a thin strip of screen that could be used for actions such as checking notifications and taking calls. Apart from this, the image also reveals that the phone will also have a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speaker and a USB Type-C port.
The patent also reveals that the phone will come with IP dust and water resistant rating, which would make it the first foldable display smartphone to feature this technology.
As far as other features are concerned, the Galaxy Fold Lite will feature 4G LTE, aluminum and glass body and 256GB of storage space with a price tag of $1,099. It is advisable to take these details with a pinch of salt as Samsung hasn't said anything about launching the ‘Lite' version of its foldable display smartphone yet. We will update you as soon as we hear more about the device.
