Samsung could be giving two major upgrades to the Galaxy S23 Ultra that could eventually scare Apple's upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. The current-gen Galaxy S22 Ultra got certain big upgrades this year and proved itself to be a better pick than the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, the iPhone 14 Pro is rumoured to get some big upgrades later this year and Samsung will do something similar to keep its influence on the premium segment of the market. Based on the latest rumours, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will play big on numbers.

One of them is related to the camera. Based on a report from Korean website ETnews, it is said that Samsung will likely use a 200MP sensor for the main camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. We have heard this previously and the latest report reiterates the same. The Ultra variant has long had the 108MP camera sensor doing duty and it seems time for an upgrade, especially with Motorola and Xiaomi coming up with 200MP camera sensors on their phones.

Galaxy S23 Ultra to get 200MP camera, bigger fingerprint sensor

However, the 200MP image sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be a different sensor than the ones used on the Motorola and Xiaomi phones. Samsung is likely to tune it better for superior photo quality and it could offer much better details.

The rest of the camera sensors are expected to remain unchanged. Hence, you can expect to see the same 12MP ultra-wide camera, and the two telephoto cameras on the Galaxy S23 Ultra as before.

The second big upgrade to the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be related to the fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S22 Ultra uses a fast ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that works with wet fingers as well. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is said to use the bigger Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max fingerprint sensor. This sensor has been seen previously on the iQOO 9 Pro and Vivo X80 Pro, proving the reliability and convenience of the sensor. On the Galaxy S23 Ultra, it could make for easy unlocking.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is also rumoured to keep the same design as the Galaxy S22 Ultra and rest of the core features. The phone is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip globally, which should make for better power efficiency and overall performance.
