The developers at WhatsApp may be working on frequently requested features like true multi-device support, but that doesn't stop the messaging platform from adding smaller, quality of life improvements such as animated stickers. The company will now reportedly begin rolling out the ability to import animated sticker packs globally.

On March 2, we had reported that the company was rolling out the ability to import animated sticker packs into the app, but that was limited to three countries — Brazil, Iran and Indonesia. According to noted WhatsApp feature leaker WABetaInfo, the company will roll out the animated sticker import feature globally over the next 24 hours.

WhatsApp has support animated stickers on both iOS and Android for a while now, but users have so far been stuck with the stickers that have been provided by the app's sticker portal. The company is now allowing users to import animated images as sticker packs (using a compatible app) into WhatsApp -- just like users can already import sticker packs made of static images into the app.

Users who want to take advantage of the animated sticker pack import support will have to update their app to the latest version and then download one of the many “sticker maker” apps on the Play Store or Apple's App Store, where they can create their own animated sticker packs and then import them into WhatsApp.

According to information previously shared by WABetaInfo, users will have to add at least three animated images (which can be GIFs as well) into their sticker maker app before exporting it as a pack and then importing it into WhatsApp. Another important point to note is that users will have to make sure that their pack contains only animated stickers, as adding static stickers to the same pack is not supported, according to the report.
