Oppo's latest Reno 7 series made a mark in terms of camera and design it offered in India. But taking it a notch higher, Oppo has come up with Find X5 Pro 5G, the latest in the Find X series. However, the model is currently up for sale in international markets and it is not really known if it will hit the Indian market or not. But that cannot stop us from exploring what the company can offer in the future to its Indian customers! The Find X5 Pro is succeeding the Find X3, launched last year. Priced at around Euro 1600, the Find X5 Pro is a flagship phone that has got a unique design, which helps it stand out among its competitors like the iPhone 13 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Though the design is one of the important aspects, is it enough to attract you to buy the phone? Of course not! If you have to invest a hefty amount of money on a smartphone, you will want it to be an allrounder. Performance, features, cameras, battery, charging speed, among others, are a few things that matter. Expectations around the Oppo Find X5 Pro are very high and does it tick all the checkboxes right? After using it for a while now, here is all I have to say.

Not sure which
mobile to buy?

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G: Design

The Find X5 Pro will definitely stun you with its subtle design. Though there is not much difference in its design compared to its predecessor Find X3, but Oppo has surely refined the smartphone considerably to enhance its appeal. The rear of the phone gets a glossy mirror finish, but wait, that's not made of Glass! It's Ceramic, which makes the phone a bit more durable and scratch-resistant. However, it is not smudge free. Every time you hold the phone, your fingerprints will have their impressions on the back panel.

The camera module beautifully rises out of the curvy ceramic rear panel and ends in a flat surface housing the lenses. Coming to the front, paired with the Gorilla Glass Victus, the phone gets a big display with curved edges on the sides that link to the metal frame. It also holds a punch-hole cutout for the front camera. The bezels are thin but not as thin as on the Samsung Galaxy S22.

The Find X5 Pro is fairly heavy at 218 grams but the good part is, the weight is evenly distributed and hence making it very comfortable to hold. The phone also carries IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Display

When almost all the smartphone companies are coming up with a big screen to let people enjoy gaming and binge-watching, Oppo cannot lag behind with its Find X5 Pro. The display of the phone measures 6.7 inches and uses an LTPO 2 10-bit AMOLED panel with 1140p resolution and up to 1000Hz of touch response rate. The refresh rate varies between 1Hz to 120Hz and the peak brightness is 1300 nits. With the auto-brightness option turned on, I did not struggle to use the phone under bright sunlight or dim light. The brightness got automatically adjusted to soothe my eyes.

The display feels smooth and flawless. I did not find any lag or issue right from unlocking the phone to using the fingerprint sensor on the display to playing games, scrolling Instagram, or even watching movies and videos. The response time to touch is also quick and instant. The screen also delivers commendable colours and contrast.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Performance

The Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G is a high-end Android flagship that runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It runs on Oppo's ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 and manages to handle every task without showing any lag.

From normal day-to-day usage like watching videos, listening to music, playing games (even for long hours) to using the phone extensively on weekends, the phone did not lose its calm and followed all my commands. From simple games like Subway Surfer, Temple Run, Candy Crush to playing high-end games, nothing bothered the phone and it did not even heat up while working for long hours.

Coming to the user interface, you will get certain pre-installed apps on the phone, but these are not something to be worried about as you can simply uninstall them if not in use. You will also not get disturbed by any unnecessary advertisements and notifications, apart from the apps you have allowed for!

I liked the audio quality of the phone. As while listening to songs or watching movies, the volume and audio quality was commendable. The calling experience has also been fairly good. But what I did not like was the colour saturation on video calls. While on the video call, I noticed my hair getting a greenish effect and my skin tone went reddish-orangish.

Also, using the personalisation option available under settings, you can change pretty much everything. From adjusting themes, to changing app icon size and shape and creating your own always-on display, you will get the flexibility to keep everything according to your preferences.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Camera

Oppo is one of the brands offering best-in-class camera performance and the biggest draw on the Find X5 Pro is its set of the rear camera. The phone comes with a triple sensor setup of a main 50MP Sony IMX766 camera with 5-axis OIS, another 50MP Sony IMX766 camera with an ultra-wide lens, and a third 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. While the front camera is rated at 32MP.

These cameras rely on the 6nm Oppo MariSilicon chip for image processing duties, which pays dividends in low-light videos. The cameras are also tuned by Hasselblad, which allows the phone to get the X-Pan model we saw on the OnePlus 9 Pro last year.

Pictures clicked from the main camera and in portrait mode offered enhanced colours which looked natural and almost similar to what we see from our naked eye. Details in the images were also sharp and crisp. However, you need to note that the beautification mode is automatically on and you need to turn it off if you do not want an orangish effect on the skin tone.

As per the company, the MariSilicon X chip improves the quality of the pictures clicked in the night. And yes, the claim proved right to me. I loved doing night photography using the phone. From colour accuracy to minute detailing, everything seemed perfect.

But, not everything impressed me! Especially when it came to zooming. The clicks lost the detailings and clarity. If you try clicking the image of the moon or sun by zooming you won't get the clarity and result that you can get from the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Check out the samples by clicking on the link here to get more clarity on camera performance.

Coming to recording videos, it did impress me with its stability, and output with colours and contrast. Oppo also provides several modes using which you can click good pictures and record videos like pro mode, panorama, slow motion, time-lapse, film, long exposure, among others.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Battery

The Find X5 Pro comes with a 5000mAh battery and gets Oppo's new 80W fast charging. There is support for 50W wireless charging as well. With my usage of around 4 hours of screen time a day, which include playing games, using social media, watching videos, taking calls, among others, the battery easily lasted around a day and a half. While with rigorous usage on weekends, it still breathed a day. But with the help of an 80W fast charger that comes in the box, I was able to charge the phone from around 20 percent to 100 in around 30 minutes.

If you are looking for a unique design with good performance, battery life, and fast charging ability, Oppo Find X5 Pro is something considerable. Though I did not like the pictures clicked using the Zoom feature, the Find X5 Pro cameras otherwise do fairly well. Also, the phone is currently available in the international market only. Unless you import it, Indian customers have to go for Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro among others if they want a flagship phone with good performance, decent design, commendable battery life, good cameras, among others.
