FAU-G game launches on Android phones: First impressions

After months of teasing, Fearless and United Guards (or FAU-G) has finally made it to Android smartphones. Widely claimed as an alternative to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), this new game is developed by nCORE Games that is owned by Vishal Gondal (who also heads GOQII). There is no confirmation when FAU-G will be arriving on iOS.

We have been playing this since the past couple of hours and as mentioned before, although pitched up against PUBG, which is a battle royale game, FAU-G is based on a storyline theme. Upon installing the game, users are shown a familiar homepage with the soldier (Commander Dhillon) standing at the centre and all the other options for Loadouts, Settings, Store and Purchases showing on all the four corners. You can directly jump into the game once you are done with a short and basic tutorial that teaches you how to move around, restore health by sitting at a fireplace and how to attack/defend yourself in combat.

For now, FAU-G is only giving the option to play a ‘Campaign’ titled ‘Tales from The Galwan Valley’ with ‘Team Deathmatch’ and ‘Free for All’ coming soon. It is not for sure when these will be made available. The ‘Team Deathmatch’ can have 10 players in total with 5 on each side.

It is worth adding that in ‘Tales from The Galwan Valley’ is based on a checkpoint timer system wherein you have to fight the enemies to reach each one of them. There is also a timer on the top right corner before which you have to cover all the checkpoints. You can go for a fistfight, but the damage is less, or you can simply walk over the melee weapon dropped by the enemy once eliminated to use it against others. It is possible to do it while in combat with others. As the checkpoint gets covered, the number of enemies increase.

From the Settings page, you can change the graphics quality from ‘Very Low’ to ‘Ultra’ along with the Sensitivity and background volume. That is basic for now but might hopefully give you more options in future.

We found the navigation, graphics and the overall gameplay good and easy. It is not as complex and detailed as what we have seen in PUBG but good for starters. The FAU-G homescreen gives you a chance to buy melee weapons. You can also buy ‘Tokens’. In the purchase page, the game clearly mentions that ‘20% of the proceeds will be contributed to BKV’ (Bharat Ke Veer). There is also a Honor road, which is your overall character level progress bar. The higher you go, the more weapons and Silver Coins you win.

FAU-G seems like a basic version that is meant for the masses to understand and navigate limited options easily. The gameplay is simple without any complex settings. It still needs some improvements though. We will be talking more about the game soon.
