Elon Musk, Aryan Khan, Shehnaaz Gill in India's list of top Google Searches in 2021

Google has released its “Year in Search" list for 2021 and some curious as well as expected terms came up on top. For a pandemic hit year, India mostly searched for COVID related queries and vaccine search. For those whom COVID wasn't a concern, they searched for Neeraj Chopra the most, followed by Tesla owner Elon Musk, and other celebs like Aryan Khan and Shehnaaz Gill.

The Year in Search 2021 list has categorized various search terms across genres. However, there's an overall category that holds the topmost searched terms. The Indian Premier League (IPL) came first, followed by CoWIN, ICC T20 World Cup, Euro Cup, and Tokyo Olympics. Free Fire Redeem codes was the seventh most searched term in India this year!

When it comes to the top searched personalities, Elon Musk fared fifth overall and was preceded by Big Boss contestant and celebrity Shehnaaz Gill, as well as Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan. However, Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra dominated the charts here.

As far as the movies are concerned, it was mostly related to the 2021 launches. Jai Bhim dominated the Google Search in 2021, followed by Prime Video exclusive Shershaah. Other films that are part of the top 10 list include Radhe, Bell Bottom, Eternals, Master, Sooryavanshi, Godzilla vs Kong, Drishyam 2, and Bhuj: The Pride of India.

“How to register for COVID Vaccine” and “How to download vaccination certificate” were the top search queries for step-by-step guides. In terms of the News Events, the top queries were related to Tokyo Olympics, Black Fungus, Afghanistan news, West Bengal elections, and Tropical cyclone Tauktae.

The “What is” search category was ruled by the terms such as “What is black fungus”, “What is the factorial of hundred”, “What is Taliban”, “What is happening in Afghanistan”, “What is remdesivir” and more.
