There’s currently an issue in Google Docs that’s causing text formatting, and in some cases users are unable to edit at all. This issue is affecting some Google Slides users as well. The real cause behind this issue isn’t known yet but there is a temporary fix for it.

According to a report by Android Police, this issue seems to be appearing for users who have ad blocker enabled on Google Chrome. So the only workaround right now is to disable ad blocker for Google Docs or Slides. This has turned out to work for users who are facing this issue. Google is yet to address it, and roll out a fix for the same.

Based on complaints by users on Reddit and Twitter, most of the users are experiencing text formatting issues on Docs. The text starts to wrap itself when it reaches the end of the sentence. In some cases, the text even appears overlaid on top of itself. Some users have also reported being unable to edit documents entirely on Google Docs. It’s happening to users on different systems including Chromebooks and Windows. But there’s still no clarity on why it’s happening.

You can still have an ad blocker installed on your browser but what you can do is pause the extension on the Google Docs or Slides website. You can also exempt the pages from ad blocking. If this also doesn’t work then you should probably try removing the ad blocker from Chrome. You can check if you have an ad blocker installed by tapping on the extensions icon just next to your profile icon on Chrome. Here, you’ll see the list of extensions enabled and tap on the three dot menu to disable them.
