Google Chrome Actions: What are they and how to use them

Google Chrome has a host of browser features that makes it quite useful despite being an absolute battery-drainer. Amongst features Chrome offers, the ability to clear cache and search history, save passwords, payment methods etc are available on other browsers as well but Chrome has tools like auto-language translation, incognito mode etc that are particularly helpful. Adding to all this are the latest Chrome Actions that have been just unveiled by Google.

What are Chrome Actions?

Chrome Actions are a series of shortcuts that make it easier and quicker to perform actions with the browser. These are a set of commands that you can type into the Chrome address bar to trigger shortcuts. This makes it easier to navigate through the browser settings by skipping a bunch of steps.

To use Google Chrome Actions you need to open a new Chrome window and then type in the action on the address bar. Once you press enter, you will be taken to the corresponding Chrome settings page.

How to use Chrome Actions?

For now, there are only six actions that Chrome users can type in on the navigation bar and have the browser perform the tasks:

To manage passwords

Type "update credentials" or "edit passwords" into the address bar and click on the suggested action that appears below.

To update Chrome

Type "update browser" or "update google chrome".

To translate a page

Type "translate this page" or "translate this".

To manage saved payment methods or add a new one

Type "update card info" or "edit credit card".

To clear history and browsing data

Type "wipe cookies” or "clear cache" or "delete history".

To open an Incognito window

Type "incognito" or "launch incognito mode".
