Google launches new AR experiment for a virtual Diwali

Google wants you to make the most of your virtual Diwali with a new AR experience. Google Arts & Culture has a virtual Diwali experience that lets you decorate your place with diyas, and also burst crackers.

Google Arts & Culture ‘Diwali @ Home’ experience can be accessed through this link. This virtual experience is possible only on smartphones with smartphones that support Web Augmented Reality. You can augment virtual diyas from your smartphone for virtual Diwali decorations. You can also virtually burst different Diwali crackers through this AR experience.

There’s also a dedicated Google Arts & Culture page for Diwali. Here you’ll find the history about Diwali with illustrations, and a colouring book as well. There’s also a video of Amish Tripathi, author and Director of the Nehru Centre with Neil MacGregor, Art historian, broadcaster on the significance of Diwali this year.

Google has also filled the page with decorations, traditions, and food that’s related to Diwali. You can also find pictures of Diwali celebrations, and the festivities around it. There’s also a gallery of different rangoli designs, and lamp traditions. It also features the history of Diwali from the Ramayana, and the significance of Hindu goddess Lakshmi. The entire page has everything you ever wanted to or need to know about Diwali.

Similar to Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat have also launched virtual Diwali experiences. Twitter has its custom Diwali emoji, while Facebook has started a new Diwali challenge. Instagram and Snapchat have also launched Diwali AR filters.
