Google back in May this year had released support for iMessages-like emoji reactions in its Messages app. At the time, the company hadn’t released this feature on the web. Now, Google is changing this status quo by bringing this feature to Messages’ web-based platform.
As per a report by 9To5 Google, Google has started rolling out support for emoji reactions in Google Messages web app. Notably, this feature is the same as the one available in Google Messages’ mobile app.
When users hover near a message, they will see an emoji icon towards the right side of the message along with a three-dot overflow menu. From there, when Google Messages hover on the emoji icon, they will see a bunch of emoji reactions, which includes Thumbs Up, Like, LOL, Surprise, Sad, Angry and Thumbs Down.
From here, users can pick any emoji that they want to use and it will be reflected on the receiver’s message feed via RCS.
This feature is being rolled out to a wider audience and it should be available to all users in the coming days.
Separately, Google rolled out Rich Communication-based messaging to users worldwide. This service brings new chat features along with bringing support for high-quality photos and videos, read receipts and share reactions among others.
