Google Messages schedule send now available to more Android users

Google started rolling out the option to schedule messages last year. It is now making the feature available to more users globally. Scheduling in Messages will be available for phones running Android 7 and higher. This feature will be available with the latest update of the Messages app.

Google’s Messages app already offers a bunch of features including RCS. One feature it had been missing for quite some time was schedule send. This is now widely available to Android users after rolling out in phases last year. This feature doesn’t have a dedicated button on the Messages app, and instead you’ll have to long press the “send” button after drafting a text. This functionality would previously offer options to send an MMS message and add a subject line to it.

A pop-up with scheduling options will appear with three choices - later today, later tonight and tomorrow. These options also have a time allotted by Google. You can choose among these three options or you can set a customised date and time. Also, the phone has to be turned on for the scheduled message to be sent to the receiver.

The scheduled message will still appear in the chat but with a disclaimer below. Till the time the message is sent, you can choose to change the text, send it immediately or delete it.

Schedule send in Messages has been announced along with five other features for Android. Google also announced dark mode for Maps, new features for Android Auto, updates to Assistant, new version of TalkBack and Password Checkup feature.
