Google for India 2020: Google partners with CBSE to help teachers deliver lessons using blended learning techniques

Google hosted the sixth edition of its annual Google for India event on Monday. At the event, the company announced that it was partnering with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to help teachers make use of various tools to deliver lessons to their students more effectively amid the changing scenario.

The company said that as a part of the partnership, Google would train more than one million teachers in over 22,000 schools across the country to deliver lessons that combine the classroom approach with online approach by the end of the year.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with CBSE Skill Education and Training. By the end of this year in 2020 we will enable one million teachers in 22 thousand schools across India to deliver blended learning that combines the classroom approach with online approach using free tools like GSuite for Education, Google Classroom, YouTube and more,” Google’s head of Marketing in India and Southeast Asia, Sapna Chadha said on the occasion.

It is worth noting that the announcement comes shortly after Facebook announced a partnership with CBSE wherein the social media company would educate students on various aspects of digital safety and privacy. In addition to that, the initiative that involves training 10,000 teachers and 30,000 students would also cover the fundamentals of augmented reality or AR.

Coming back to Google for India event, apart from announcing the partnership with CBSE, the company announced that a grant of $1 million would be provided to Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) for training 700,000 teachers across the country to deliver virtual education for vulnerable students so that they continue learning from home.
